When Actions Make Sense

Written by Mathew Naismith

This is funny how lessons are learnt. Recently I have been writing about not taking actions because these actions only cause further ripples within the water (consciousness), this is still true, however. We know all actions are expressed through the ego, I know no other way of how actions and intentions are able to be expressed, the way this expression is expressed is determined by how controlling an ego is. The thing is, not all expressions of ego are destructive, this also means not all actions and intentions are destructive.

My lesson learnt is in regards to actual events that took place recently concerning my wife and I. We found out we were both deceptively used to defame another person in court, this resulted in an innocent person being hurt in more than one way. My immediate thought was to not take action for this will only lead to a reaction and so on, why cause ripples upon my wife and I tranquil waters (consciousness)!!

Since then I have been uneasy, I kept getting messages in my head to take action, the question is, is this an indication that my ego is in control or that my inner voice is trying to tell me something?

I was quite happy at first to let this go and take no action, it would just be my ego trying to take further control of me, "how dare people use my wife and I in this way", this is the controlling ego way!!! This inaction of ours became quite questionable as I kept receiving messages to take action, after a certain point you realise it's not the ego but the inner voice telling us to take action.

This inner voice can also be my ego controlled subconscious telling me to take action, however, the big difference between a true inner voice and our subconscious is, one will nag you consistently and the other only when appropriate. In this case I was only given messages to take action at certain times, usually when I was totally relaxed and calm, this to me is a good indication from me to take action.

Now I know my reaction is going to cause ripples, probably to the extent of turning the water (consciousness) into an utter chaotic mess, but it's not really advisable to ignore these inner voices especially when such actions can help other people.

Our water is tranquil until we take action, any action will cause ripples upon our consciousness, you must realise even though our consciousness is tranquil, consciousness itself isn't, it's already been turned into a chaotic mess by other conscious forms, this eventually will affect us all in some way.

So do we take action?

Only when we are absolutely sure it's not our controlling ego trying to control us to take action, in other words taking action to feed our egos instead of taking action to quell the chaotic water (consciousness).  In an unenlightened state, we cannot totally avoid taking action, this is because almost everything around us was created  by intentional actions, all these intentional actions influence us in some way so we react. The thing is, is to not react in the same way, through a controlling ego but through a non-controlling ego, this allows us to be less inactive with such an ego.

The recent problem at hand was created by a controlling ego, the thing is to take action by becoming inactive with the ego, in a sense you are still taking action but an action that is less inactive with the ego, this inaction lessons the chaotic affects upon the water (consciousness) when taking any such actions.

At time we need to take action, this is quite unavoidable within such an unenlightened state, what we need to be aware of is how we take action, is it ego controlled or is it for a need as opposed to a desire? I should state  that I believe all desires are ego controlled to one extent or another but needs aren't, in our case it's become a need to help another person. Reacting for a need causes far less ripples upon the water (consciousness), this is due to a need being less controlled by the ego.

In an unenlightened state, we are going to cause ripples upon the water, this is unavoidable unless we become enlightened, the thing we should do in the mean time is try to avoid causing the water to become too chaotic, this is helped by being aware that this chaotic water actually assists us to become unenlightened in the first place. The controlling ego thrives on intentional actions so we should avoid, when possible, such actions.

Could you imagine a reality not predominantly controlled by the ego, the water wouldn't be totally tranquil but it wouldn't be chaotic either  for it's the controlling ego that keeps us unenlightened.

Inner Voice of the Source- The Inner Temple

Written by Mathew Naismith

I don’t think a lot of people are going to resonate with this post either, we should try to remember we are all on different paths but on the same journey, it all comes out in the wash, meaning, the destination and the outcome is the same no matter what path we follow.

What’s more important or worthy, being human and wanting to become one with the source or being the source itself and just being human, in other words expressing the sources consciousness? This is not an easy question to answer even though it might seem easy and seemingly obvious.

Even though the human self (mind) is ignorant to it’s true nature, it’s never ever been anything but of this source, the inner temple, this means to the source  that the expression of it’s consciousness is worthy, not less or more but  just as worthy  as the source itself. For any human ignorant of their true nature this is going to sound lame, inconceivable, mainly because they are looking up at something that seems  more worthy, how can anything so worthy as the source be as worthy as we are, on the same level? The main point here is we have again made judgment and judgement upon ourselves that we are less worthy than the source itself when we are the source itself, we have never been anything but the source itself.

At the human level of perception this is very hard to believe or perceive, this is mainly due to  self-judgement of ourselves and each other and looking up to a source that is supposed to be mightier than ourselves. This is where I feel religion has gone astray, instead of looking at ourselves as this source or Jesus or Buddha, we have judged ourselves inferior therefore idolised such sources when we are that source itself.  Jesus never wanted to be idolised as he knew.” I am you, as you are of me”, we are all of the source itself.

There is another point to make here, why would a source, the inner temple, create something that is supposed to be less worthy than itself; we are an example of this? The point is it wouldn’t unless it’s just as worthy.  All we have done is forgotten who we are, so because we are absent minded about our true nature this makes us less worthy?

Just think of the human race as a children, we are ignorant to a lot of things until we are made aware of them through education and experiences, are our children any less worthy than adults because they are ignorant?

When they say God the all mighty father, this isn’t to me far from the truth even though I’m not religious, the source itself is obviously more aware so we show respect like we would our own parents.

Look at it this way, this reality is the classroom and we are the children, however, instead of learning from our parents we are learning from each other, what do children unsupervised learn from each other?  To me this is exactly what we are all expressing; all the naughty little things and deeds that children will express unsupervised, to me this chaotic destructive existence is an expression of that, this is due to not listening to our parents, the source.

Religion has tried to give us this connection with our inner temple, the source itself, basically our parent, to learn from, you can’t learn from an adult unless you have a connection with them.  Basically what happened was egotism; we built glorious monuments to this inner temple to reconnect ourselves with this inner temple, the source, instead of learning not to be egotistical we learnt quite the opposite. Our intentions were honourable but our own ignorance of who we are made us egotistical and judgemental. When we expressed egotism we created judgment and as soon as we created judgment from being so egoist, we in turn created chaos and destruction.  The human race reminds me of spoilt brats that aren’t properly supervised or taught a proper way to behave; they will cause chaos and at times destruction.

So why doesn’t the source, our parent the inner temple, supervise us better? Well actually it does, it’s just that we are that spoilt we just won’t listen. How many people in the world ignore the inner voice? This is the source our parent speaking. How many of us learnt from the teachings of educationalists (teachers) like Jesus and Buddha?  I could go on, the point is we are being guided but we are not listening.  I feel the source is very passive, it won’t forcefully guide us or chastise us but this source will allow us to learn the hard way if we are not listening. It seems quite strange to me that we have chosen the hard way to learn when we are constantly shown an easier way to learn.

We don’t need to build monuments in respect for the inner temple; it already exists within the source itself without any expression of egotism.  Yes as children we should show respect, not by building flashy monuments but by listening to the sources voice, this is a true sign of respect. This new/old age spirituality, void of religious doctrines, is in away trying to rid itself of these monuments but in certain circumstances making the mind and body the monument when the mind and body is only a vessel, yes we should look after this vessel but not egotistically. This is falling into the same trap as religion did in my mind.

So getting back to the initial question, what’s more important or worthy, being human and wanting to become one with the source or being the source itself and just being human, in other words expressing the sources consciousness?

Since my mid-teens it’s always been all worthy, I was lucky enough to be appreciative of being expressive of the sources consciousness, however, I haven’t always listened the sources voice either as children don’t always listen to their parents.  Acting the brat however denotes a high level of egotism, we should be aware of our own brattish ways for a brat very rarely listens to their parents as we are not listening to the sources voice, the inner temple.

Using the Inner Voice-Tribe Mentality

Written by Mathew Naismith

I should firstly point out what I mean about the inner voice for those who don’t quite get what I am talking about here. The inner voice to me is in relation to when the inner self speaks and speaks of inner wisdom and knowledge; it’s the sprit or what First Nation people in America refer to as the star in English.

East and West Mentalities: Does it matter if one is of eastern or western thinking when trying to become aware of this inner voice again?  To a point it does, when I talk about eastern and western thinking I’m not referring to a race of people or the colour of one’s skin, what I am referring to is the mentality of an ideology/philosophy.  It’s quite obvious western and eastern ideologies and philosophies are different, not within the content itself but within the ideologies of such content.  What I am saying is it’s the way we think about life itself that defines our mentality, for example, does western mentality take in consideration of the tribe of the people before themselves?  How many people within a town or city truly look at themselves as a collective, a tribe of people?  This is why western mentality is more about the self than the tribe, eastern mentality isn’t like this, the tribe comes first and only then is the individual taken into consideration.

To me western mentality refers to individuality therefore egotism however eastern mentality refers to the tribe (tribe mentality) therefore the collective.  It matters not if we are born in an eastern or western thinking community as we can overcome this through living as an individual or a collective.

Western mentality isn’t being just about the individual  but also about separateness however this kind of mentality seems to be slowly changing to a more tribe like mentality but it has a long way to go.  Sadly enough though, easterners seem to be taking on this western mentality, losing their own eastern mentality in the mean time for something more physically glamorous rather than spiritually glamorous.  What is happening?

Ego Controlled Mentality: It doesn’t matters what kind of mentality you take on or live your life by, we all have to contend with the ego and it’s controlling ways, this is a never ending battle that should always be fought otherwise the ego will take over completely.  Does tribal mentality have to contend with the controlling factors of the ego?  All the times but they are lucky because any individual who becomes egotistical will know the tribe comes first, western minded mentality lost this bond and it’s loyalty to the tribe long ago.  This allowed the ego to take even more control.

Eastern mentality has also suffered in the east, the Middle East and China are good examples of this, they are losing their fight against the controlling ego for the main reason I feel is because they have lost the importance of the tribe.  This has allowed the ego to fill this void left over from losing this tribe mentality (eastern mentality).  How can we fight the ego when all we are doing is living for ourselves and not the tribe?

Western mentality is also about positive thinking as opposed to negative thinking but how positive is this thinking when we are about ourselves and not the tribe?  How many positive people judge other people as being negative and ostracise them, is this really positive?  Of course not, does this happen with a tribe like mentality?  It can’t for the main reason it’s never about the individual but the tribe itself, the controlling ego just doesn’t play a part when the tribe itself comes first, there is no actual individuality for the ego to be able to gain control.

Western mentality gives us egotism which allows us to judge that I am positive, this takes judgement to come to this conclusion, I judge you negative therefore I must be positive.  The reason this doesn’t happen in a true tribal situation is there are no negatives and positives to judge each other by, it’s more neutral.

Middle Eastern Tribes: If we looked over at the Middle East at present, we will find tribes fighting it out, these people are putting their tribe first, in this case the tribes are reprehensive of different religions and factions of religious sects, what is so good about tribal mentality when it obviously creates conflicts?

At first glance these conflicts seem to be due to tribal mentality, to a point that is correct however why are these tribes truly warring with each other? Its’ to do with having different ideological principals to another tribe, what is anyone expressing when they become destructive over principles?  Egotistical, the more we conflict the more the ego takes control and of course the more destructive we become.  Eastern tribes have been warring for thousands of years, what again is so good about tribal mentality when it obviously creates conflicts?

Tribal Mentality: It’s not the tribe itself that I’m trying to portray as something more constructive but the constructiveness of tribal mentality itself, it’s the mentality of being a tribe that is constructive.  What man has done is allowed the ego to take control of these tribes not the tribal members taking control of the ego.   A tribe is formed by many different and varied people coming together as one, no one is exactly the same but the tribal mentality has brought them together.  What we don’t do as a species is look at the whole of mankind as a tribe with different and varied people coming together as one, we are still separate tribes like separate people within a single tribe warring because of our differences which are egoistically controlled.  In a tribe not controlled by ego and judgement, we don’t get this kind of conflict, yes there are conflicts but they are soon dealt with by other tribal members.

To me having different ideological principles is no different to people being different to each other, we are indeed one tribe, a race of humans warring it out mainly because we are controlled by the controlling factors of the ego. Could you imagine for one moment what it would be like not living in an existence controlled by the ego but living differently to each other under one tribe!!  Yes religion has tried to bring us under one tribe either passively or aggressively giving us this constructive tribal mentality, this hasn’t worked for the main reason each religion (a tribe) has allowed itself to be controlled by the ego.  I should say here that not all religions (tribes) have done this either.  If we truly lived collectively as one tribe, the tribal members wouldn’t become controlled by the ego, any conflicts would be kept rather small.

Once we see ourselves as one tribe, we will judged each other a lot less and in turn lessen our conflicts, also by seeing ourselves as one tribe we will become a lot less ignorant of each other as we become a lot more accepting of each other.  As I have said in past posts of mine, the controlling factors of the ego can only exist because of our ignorance, once we become more aware, our ignorance becomes a lot less lessening the controlling grip that the ego has on us as a tribe not tribes.  Once we see ourselves as one tribe, the inner voice will return, by seeing ourselves as one tribe is using this inner voice.

Finding the Inner Voice

Written by Mathew Naismith

I thought the following discussion I had with a First Nation person was interesting so I thought I would share it. The discussion was in relation to my last post titled, Neutral Thinking and Wisdom.

SpiritRider
From our First Nations view our definition of judgement is close to your definition of neutrality.

When non-native people talk about judgement this what the outcome is. When judging, they analyze something, then they deem it as either good or bad and they treat the thing or person according to what they believe how one should be treated based on their judgement. eg.. they will treat people good who they have deemed as good. And they will treat people who they deem as bad in a bad way. Their decision from that judgement will dictate in their mind the worthiness of the situation or the person.

When we judge we look and we observe and then we accept the situation or person as it is. Then we adapt ourselves to our analysis and we keep moving. We do not try to change anyone or anything and we do not deem anything as good or bad. We accept and adapt ourselves thereby achieving harmony and when we depart a situation or a person we leave it as we found it .We call it respect and honor. We recognize imbalance, but it is not our imbalance, so we cannot touch it. This is how I understand what you shared.
Thank you.

Mathew
Interesting +SpiritRider2013, this is what I call judging not judgement, judgement usually refers to something negative but judging is like your First Nation view it would seem.

I don't try to confuse non-native people with this variation of judging and judgment, I usually refer to them as the same to keep it simple. I did however write about this difference in one of my posts some time back.

Most of what I write most western minded people just don't understand or don't want to understand, it's too close to the truth, most people don't like the truth being told especially if it seems to go against their own beliefs.

Most western mentality is built around preconceived judgement I'm afraid, they lost their inner voice long ago.
You're an interesting person SpiritRider.

SpiritRider
Does it seem like one is a physical action and the other a spiritual action?
Thank you.

Mathew
+SpiritRider2013 Interesting question!!!!!!
Didn't look at it like this but yes I suppose so, one judges by the inner voice and the other the outer voice, one is of the spiritual the other is not.

This is funny because you can physically see who's voice is the loudest, which voice is more destructive and demanding? The outer voice, it's probably why we can hear this outer voice the most. The inner voice ins't like this, it goes with the flow because it's not judgmental of everything seemingly not of itself.
Thank you SpiritRider, good thoughts.

It would seem as a western thinking people we have lost our way, we are meandering about lost in a void we created through our own ignorance and ego.  We are trying to use eastern philosophy to correct this, but we seem to not be able to get the full gist of what eastern thinking is about to be able to find our inner voice again.

I think SpiritRider did a very good job in showing us where we go astray when taking on eastern thinking, he’s explanation of how different First Nation sees judgment, to what western thinkers do, covered this quite well.
