Spiritually what is Life?

Written by Mathew Naismith

What is truly life; is it existing in a physical reality or something else? Well life isn’t something else and it’s not physical realities, for life to exist there has to be a death so we have to define if death actually exists for life to exist, does death exist?

According to the following death certainly doesn’t exist, death exists for us because we are brought up to believe in death, the body and mind dies and rots away to nothing, this is death to us, the problem with this is we only have a transition of energy, you can’t destroy energy, however, energy can go through transitional stages that seem like the demise of our whole being.

Extract:  After the death of his old friend, Albert Einstein said “Now Besso has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That means nothing. People like us … know that the distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”

Extract: Many of us fear death. We believe in death because we have been told we will die. We associate ourselves with the body, and we know that bodies die. But a new scientific theory suggests that death is not the terminal event we think.

So there is no such thing as death, does this then negate the possibility of life actually existing? Only in a sense.

What is life, what gives life its existence? In a human sense the existence of death gives life its existence, could there be a life existence without death, how would we know life exists without death, an opposite?  Without an opposite we wouldn’t know if we were living or not. Take yin and yang (male female), would yang know the existence of yin if we were all yang?  The yang cannot exist without the yin so if death doesn’t exist how can life?

So does this mean life doesn’t exist?  In a human sense yes but not in a spiritual sense, anything that is creative and transforming you could define as giving life its existence, you could also say this also gives death it’s existence but that’s not true.  In a human sense you have life, therefore, what we have defined as life is to do with death, our demise gives us a sense of what life is, however, we are now finding out that death doesn’t actually exist. This doesn’t and shouldn’t negate the existence of life for the main reason; anything creative and transforming is a definition life.  What we really need to do now is think quite differently than we did before, yang can exist without yin and visa-versa.

Why is there a yin and yang, why do they seemingly exist?

It is obvious yin and yang create transformations as life creates death, yang on its own isn’t capable of creating and transforming, does this mean yang on its own defines death? In a sense it does, the yang on its own is incapable of creating transformations, however, because yang is aware of yin, like through realities like this one, yang is never truly of death.  It’s all down to awareness and it’s this awareness that gives life its existence. You could say here that the opposite of awareness is ignorance, therefore, ignorance is of death if awareness is of life?  The thing with this is ignorance is also of transformations, it seemingly gives us death through wars for example. Death in any sense just doesn’t exist but life does through creations and transformations.

Realities like this one are all about life and more life as they give consciousness an awareness of all it is, it’s of duality and non-duality, time and timelessness all in the same moment. Only being in duality OR non-duality can death exist as only being aware of yin OR yang can death exist. Thinking only in duality gives us death as only thinking in non-duality gives us death but, thinking in both gives us interactions and transformations, a creation of life itself. You could say non-duality is more about death than anything; it’s totally of non-transforming and creating brought about by no interactions, therefore, there are no transformations and creations, you have nothingness, in other words death.

The thing is, non-duality can’t really exist if duality in any sense exists, it’s a delusion to think non-duality can exist in the same moment unless you are aware of there being a yin and yang, duality non-duality.  All what exists for some people is non-duality and all what exists for other people is duality when non-duality and duality create transformations. Just knowing about non-duality has made us aware of existing in duality, you cannot get away from yin making yang aware of itself and visa-versa, it’s all to do with creating transformations. This is how duality has created yet another transformation by making us aware of non-duality, yin making yang aware of its own existence and visa-versa?  This is life itself, there is only life……..

Extract: Think about the quantum physics [1]. Quantum physics has proven by physical tests that a higher field of consciousness (information field) in the universe exists (Alain Aspect [2], Amit Goswami [3]). The ruling string theory [4] assumes that it has our material universe there are many other dimensions of energy. The former head of the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich, Professor Hans-Peter Dürr believes that the brain by thinking a field of consciousness (quantum field) forms that can exist after the death of the body in the higher dimension further [5]

The Benefits of Being Spiritually Aware

Written by Mathew Naismith

Recently I had a sort of scary life threatening moment and when I realised I could die, and even die quite painfully, a total sereneness came over me, my awareness has never been tested to this extent before. This incident was quite confirming, it’s always nice to get confirmation in what we are doing and thinking at times.

The realisation of possibly dying and dying in pain, brought about a sereneness I get when I’m only totally within my own space, a point when I’m connected to my inner self away from my human self.  I knew I didn’t fear dying but, because I have had a few of my own friend’s die of cancer, I didn’t quite know how I was going to handle dying in pain, recent events confirms how I would react and be within myself.

Because I go along with the flow, I go along with whatever is happening around me, I’m not always in a serine state of consciousness, for example, we have an annual pub crawl (fest) in the town I’m living in, I attend this function and yes I drink alcohol. I don’t try to judge one action being above or below another either it be spiritually orientated or not, I’m happy going along with the flow, to a certain extent anyway. When you are automatically, without any intention what so ever, impelled into such serene states of consciousness from a non-serene state of consciousness, it’s quite noticeable, your attitude and thinking changes quite dramatically.

Depending on the moment, I can go into a serene moment at a flick of a switch, this of course depends on my intentions or if I have any intentions at all. This is because intentions can hinder one going into these serene moments mainly because we are usually thinking when having intentions, it’s best to put all human thoughts in standby, if possible, as all thoughts are produced by having intentions, in other words don’t have in intentions of having intentions!!

Once again while going through recent events, this sereneness came quite unintentionally, it’s like it’s inbuilt into me to automatically react, or more precisely, be quite nonreactive to certain events in one’s life no matter how life threatening these events seem. The reason I said nonreactive is because that is what an nonreactive (unintentional) state of consciousness feels like, it’s a state of total sereneness without any intentional reaction what so ever.

Why does a life threatening event in one’s life bring about certain serene moments with certain people, why do we react differently and why do some people go into deep depression and anxiety?

It’s pure and simple fear but what makes us fear?  Intentions, I had no intentions of living any longer and I obviously had no intentions of fearing to physically suffer in pain, there were no intentions of anything but to just go with the flow of the present moment, in other words there was no other moment in my life but of dying. Death luckily enough to me always signals a new beginning not an end, we never truly die, death is a delusion brought about by intentions of living as opposed to dying.  Death isn’t an illusion, however, it is a sign of transition but because we think life is living and death isn’t, we have intentions of always trying to live; we have deluded ourselves to think life is in opposition to death when all what death is, is a transition to what we have judged as living.

Are there any benefits of being spiritually aware? Well to me that is obviously a very silly question as it would be for a lot of us……

An Adventurous Ride Called Life

Written by Mathew Naismith

I’m going to share something I resonate with; something I have always felt was true, life’s an adventurous ride; the following article I thought explained this ride quite well.

The Adventure of Being Human
by Owen K Waters

When we go on a scary ride we either want to go on this ride again and again or you might think once is enough for me, this Adventurous ride called life is very much like that. By the way, I’m one of the one’s who loved this ride to a degree, and at the soul level, I’m going to feel saddened when it’s over.

The reason for this is I very rarely took life seriously, seriously!! Most problems are caused through taking things seriously and boy haven’t we taken this ride seriously as I feel we were supposed to, could you imagine if we all knew life was only a ride not to be taken seriously, however, the more seriously we took this ride the scarier it became.  I don’t mind it a little scary but terrifying, well that’s not really for me and this is why I feel I knew from a young age life was a ride not to be taken too seriously.

We are Guests within Time Itself

Written by Mathew Naismith

Hopefully this post will assist people to think outside time itself, it is difficult, while believing that we were created from time, to perceive outside of this time, this  knowing that you are not really of time can assist in getting ourselves to think outside the barriers of time. We are indeed eternal therefore not of time but guests of time as I will explain further. Is it important to know we are only guests of time? I think so especially if we want to heal, or more precisely, change the collective to something more constructive.

We were created in and from time, how is such a creation supposed to think outside of this time especially when all we are taught is also time orientated?  Actually it’s very hard for certain people to even perceive outside of their own taught perceptions within time itself. Anyone who thinks their science or religion for example, is the be and end all, can only perceive within these barriers, they are unable to perceive of any other concept past their own concepts within time,  perceiving to think outside of time is going to be virtually impossible.

Some people are unable to perceive outside of their own concepts within time and other people can perceive most of anything within time, there are also others who can perceive outside of this time barrier altogether, these are the people who know we are only guests of time not of time itself, in other words we are eternal.  It’s amazing why we all think so differently, it’s all to do with how we think within and out of time.

Now we could say the mind and body are only of time, they were created in time unlike our eternal selves, our spirit/soul, this I feel isn’t quite correct, the brain was created in time but the mind wasn’t.  Yes the mind can be just of time because it can think it’s only of time but it can also think outside of time. Can the human body exist and perceive outside of time? It can’t even exist as it is outside of Earth’s atmosphere within time, the human body is only of time but the mind isn’t, mainly because it can think outside of time therefore it’s not just of time.

You could say here that the mind is a guest to the brain, the mind is having a short stay within the human brain just like when we go on holidays, we stay at a venue that gives us different experiences, the mind is no different when staying at it’s venue in the human brain.  I do have to admit though, at times while the mind is staying at it’s venue, the brain, it certainly doesn’t feel like a holiday, I suppose some holidays can be quite chaotic at times!!

The teaching of Buddhism say there is no eternal soul; it’s the go self that wants to be eternal.

The perceiving of an eternal soul is dualistic and of time because everything of time, like the soul, is separated by it’s own individualism when there is no true separation, this makes perfect sense. This is basically saying that time is an illusion and that we are indeed a guest within time, this illusion itself.  This is in line with saying that the mind is the brain when the mind is only a guest to the brain; it’s an illusion when we think the brain created the mind when in fact the mind is only a guest staying at the venue we call the human brain.

The brain has got the mind to think it’s of the brain not a guest of the brain; this is an illusion of the mind brought about by existing in time, so time is an illusion?

No, time only deludes us to get us to think we are only of time, this doesn’t make time itself an illusion. Why isn’t time an illusion? For the main reason; within timelessness time has always existed therefore time can’t be an illusion, however, time can obviously give us delusions, for example, that we are only off time and not a guest of time.

So is there an eternal soul? Yes and no, this all depends on our perception of what a soul actually is. In time the soul is separate to all other souls as time is all about dualism but in timelessness all souls are of one entity, one source of consciousness, this however to me doesn’t make time an illusion, this is only the case if we believe we are separated by individual soul experiences within time itself. Also any experience in time only becomes a delusion if we think we are of time instead of being guests of time.  It’s amazing how confused we have become between illusions and delusions, if in timelessness, which we are of, everything has always existed so there are no true illusions only delusions brought about by the mind thinking it’s of time and not of timelessness.

Like the mind is of the brain, we are but guests of and within time itself, it’s very much like a holiday, it’s the conditions of the destination that defines what kind of holiday we will experience. Can we change the actual conditions of a location of a holiday? If we are holidaying in the mountains, we can’t change the mountains but we can change the way we experience these mountains while on holiday, experiencing anything in time is the same. Yes we have changed the surface area of Earth but the earth is still the Earth as the mountains are still the mountains, unless……. If we stop being guests of a location and decide to own such locations, then we in a sense can change the actual mountains themselves. Instead of humans being guests to time, we think we are of time itself therefore having ownership; we are in a sense destroying the mountains that we came to holiday in.

By not just realising but knowing that we are guests of time, we can indeed change these experiences to something far more constructive and fun as any holiday destination should be, time is after all but a destination for our eternal selves to experience.

Healing Effortlessly

Written by Mathew Naismith

There are numerous ways to heal individually and collectively, this is primarily due to living in time because time gives us numerous or even infinite possibilities in all of what we do. Some of these healing processes take a lot of effort and some of them don’t, so which way should we heal personally and collectively?

Personally we should go with what we are comfortable with; it’s no good going with a healing process we don’t resonate with, this could be anything from healing through active and/or passive intentions, as the link directly below explains about, or we could use a healing process that incorporates no intentions, this is accomplished through purely living and thinking in the now, the present moment.

Extract: Your intentions play a vital role in your healing process, as a positive attitude promotes healing. This knowledge is undeniable and instinctive. Medical communities in cultures all around the world have known for thousands of years that a focused positive patient is more likely to heal. Yet using your intentions to assist your healing is not promoted in the western medical system. Why is this important aspect of healing overlooked and what can you do about it?

Healing collectively is somewhat trickier; we can’t use any healing processes that other people don’t resonate with, this is obvious in the way other people in the world shun spiritualistic practices for a more scientific way of healing and of course visa-versa.  There seems to be no way to heal the collective collectively or is there?

Let’s look at why we need to heal ourselves, what has caused us to have intentions to heal ourselves and why do we need to be healed in the first place?

What creates everything in time? Intentions, suns are in my mind intentionally created to give life, this is due to the sun also being of consciousness and any consciousness in time can have intentions and most often does have intentions.  Look at what man has created; it was all created through intentions, OK pollution isn’t intentional but the process of an intention can create pollution.  Nothing can be created without intentions either directly or indirectly.

Everything we have intentions to heal ourselves from has been created through intentions. People can become overweight when they eat too much takeaway food, this might not be intentional by the profiteers but the profiteers do have an intention to become wealthier, overweight people are a by-product  through such intentions. We then need to intentionally heal ourselves from being overweight brought about by intentions, everything we need to heal ourselves from has been created from intentions either directly or indirectly.

Collectively it’s the same dilemma, someone has intentions to force their own beliefs on to other nations and to obtain peace, another intention is enforced to go to war with such people, action reaction time and time again as human history quite plainly demonstrates.  How do we heal the collective from this, it’s seemingly an insurmountable dilemma?

First of all become aware of what is causing us to have a need to be healed in the first place and then act on this.  It’s seemingly going to take an insurmountable effort to curb our intentions, how is a non-intentional thinking process going to be effortless?

How many well-known spiritually aware people are teaching us about living just in the now? Living in the now is all about this present moment without any reflection of a past or future, to have intentions you certainly need a future and past otherwise you cannot be of intentions. Having intentions has nothing to do with living and being in the now, intentions are all to do with time, however, living and being in the now is of timelessness, there is no true past or future.  Take away the past and future; you take away anything needing to be healed because there are no intentions to cause something to be healed!!

It takes little effort to live and be in the now, all it takes is to drop your intention which is all about a past and future, all this takes is to think differently, instead of thinking in time, we are now thinking in timelessness.  To a person who can only think in time, this is going to seemingly take a lot of effort but it doesn’t once you realise you truly are eternal. This doesn’t just take being aware of being eternal but knowing you are eternal. Being aware that intentions are only of time also helps in this process; we are indeed timeless sources of conscious eternal energy.

Once you drop intentions and only live and be within the now, this very healing process of living and being in the now will become quite effortless individually and collectively.

The Shining-Inner Glow

Written by Mathew Naismith

I would like to firstly convey that I’m not directly referring to Stephen Kings, The Shining, this post is more in line with the inner glow that a mother to be will experience at times, or more precisely, the glow that you will get in spirituality.

Not all mothers to be will glow; this is due to a number of factors usually associated with intentions of the mother to be or other people’s intentions around her. When a mother to be glows is this intentional? There are no intentions, it’s just a natural process brought about naturally. Notice a mother to be who really glows, it’s a show of pure instinct without having to manifest such instincts, now notice a mother to be who has to intentionally manifest such instincts, the shining is less noticeable in this case. Now this shining comes from within, either you be an expecting mother or a spiritually aware person. We constantly allow external sources on a daily basis to hinder this shining within ourselves, this is due to using external sources to manifest our desires which takes the shine off our glow.

The shining isn’t just to do with healthy fit people either, many people who are terminally ill will experience this shining, this inner glow, actually anyone at any time can experience this shining. There doesn’t seem to be any factors involved here that causes such shining to occur but that’s not true, the shining always comes from within to start with.

Take a mother to be, what actually causes this shining, this glowing that seems to come from within?

Yes its natural instincts but what is actually causing these instincts to come forth, the inner glow? Creation itself, being a mother or a mother to be can be very spiritual; some fathers actually feel this as well and can also shine. Take a spiritually aware person who is well connected to the inner self, why do they at times really shine, I’ve experienced this myself and I know a number of other people who have also experienced this shining.

Speaking for myself, when I shine, which is noticed by a number of other people around me, it comes without any intentions what so ever just like a mother to be.  I don’t shine a lot however, this is the funny thing……….I intentionally stop myself from shining for various reasons which I won’t go into, actually we all stop ourselves from shining in one sense or another.

How do we unknowingly stop ourselves from shining?

What do intentions create?  Anything from something being destructive to constructive, it takes thought and at times an immense amount of thought to create this destruction and construction. Anything manifested is of thought and at times an immense amount of thought with a high level of intentions. Think on this, what has all this got to do with quietening the mind and being in the now, the present moment?

Can you see how unintentionally we have lost our shining, our inner glow? You can’t be manifesting anything and at the same time be in the present moment, being in the present moment isn’t about thinking and it’s certainly not about intentions which is all about the future. Yes these people will feel good within themselves and seem happy and content but this isn’t the inner glow I am talking about, the inner glow can only come from internal sources not external sources like something intentionally manifested that makes one happier.

How many times has a mother to be intentionally fallen pregnant to feel happier and give herself more fulfilment in her life?  These mothers to be don’t always glow, and when they do, it’s not the intentions that is making her shine but her natural inner instincts which automatically happen without intentions.  You will notice any mother to be who has fallen pregnant with the firm intention of making her life more fulfilling won’t shine as other mothers to be do without these intentions.

Looking over the net, we don’t seem to be able to fully let go of the ego which is all about intentions and manifesting for our own desires,  we are again using spirituality for self-gain.  It’s strange to see that one moment one is talking about living in the now and the next moment talking about active intentions and self-manifestation. This is like thinking a lot but at the same time trying not to think, you can’t think and not think at the same time in the present moment, it’s either one or the other.

Can one be into self-manifestation one moment and the next moment be just in the present moment, the now?

Yes, this however is counterproductive to being in the present moment, you are either being in the present moment or you’re not, within that present moment at that moment.  These two spiritual practices of intentional self-manifestation and the now produce quite a different existence; one is of thinking the other isn’t, one is of the inner glow (shining) the other isn’t, one is of intentional gain and the other isn’t and so on.

So how do we change our existence to a more constructive existence without intentional manifestations?

Could you imagine if everyone just stopped with their intentions, there were no intentions by anyone, what would happen, or more precisely, not happen?  We wouldn’t have conflicts and destructions; we would have utter peace and internal utter peace which I feel would in turn bring out our inner glow, the shining.

OK, a lot of us still seem to be choosing to go along with intentional manifestations and that is fine, that is but one way to exist but you can’t at the same time desire total absolute peace and harmony while intentionally manifesting, it’s again one or the other.

Once we become the shining and bring out this inner glow, all of what we need will just befall upon us without any intentions what so ever.  This isn’t saying we shouldn’t have intentions to become the shining, it’s saying the shining will just come automatically when we drop all our intentions.  You must realise you are already what you desire to be, to realise this you need to stop thinking and having intentions instead of trying to stop thinking while having intentions, this is highly counterproductive to the shining.  To stop having intentions and thinking is an intention but it’s a passive intention which leads to having no intentions in the long run, to me self-manifesting isn’t passive.

My own shining just comes to me without any intentions what so ever and so can yours, be an expecting mother and glow. Don’t laugh at this, we can all be expecting mothers and glow without a doubt.

To Manifest or not to Manifest??

Written by Mathew Naismith

That is indeed the question……..

Well not for everyone, when we see something good, that also makes us feel good, we run with it without question, this is normal human behaviour and this is quite plainly shown through our reaction to consumerist materialism for example.  A lot of people have just run with this way of life without questioning it, of course if they questioned it they would find it’s very destructive to our wellbeing. So is there any connection between spiritual manifesting and materialistic manifesting?

The following was in reply to the very question of spiritually manifesting.

The problem with manifesting is cause and effect, push and pull effect, action reaction.

By pulling something in to push something out causes an effect and a reaction, how do we get around this?

The universe itself is based on action reaction and so are humans, to manifest anything is in reaction is it not?  If the sun dies, what reaction does this cause, if a sun is created, what kind of reaction does this create?

The point is our truer nature isn’t governed by a universes law of action reaction; it goes way beyond this, trying to manifest anything in reaction is just going along with the laws and influences of the universe not our truer selves, in this we are totally governed by time when our truer nature isn’t of time.

So how do we get around this? Try not to manifest anything in reaction to something else, just be aware of a more constructive existence; it’s all to do with pure simple awareness.

A problem for starters represents a reaction, we have caused this problem to occur through a reaction otherwise we wouldn’t have a problem.  I don’t have a problem with spiritually or materially manifesting, that is just a personal choice we make that builds upon a reality and this is the point.

We want to build upon a more constructive reality but we are using the same old tools of manifesting  but in a slightly different way, instead of materially manifesting we are now spiritually manifesting, we think this has got to be a lot better!!

Right throughout human history we have pulled something in to push something out, this has always caused a reaction. You could relate spiritual manifesting to the creation of a sun, which creates life, and materialistic manifesting to the dying of a sun, destroying life. This isn’t far from the truth; however, we are still causing a reaction which causes further reactions. Spiritually manifesting supports and creates life but in doing so there is always a reaction to this, this universe is a good example of this, now look at what it created through this reaction, it created life but it also created destruction, action reaction.

Manifesting anything isn’t long lasting, it’s not eternal.  Yes spiritually manifesting will improve on our lives but will this manifestation last? No manifestation lasts because it’s all based on time, you cannot get away from manifesting anything which is of time therefore ephemeral (fleeting). Yes we could just once again look after our own selves and manifest a better existence for the rest of our lives; this to me seems a little self-centred though.

So how do we create an existence that is going to last if we are not going to manifest it, as any manifestation is based on time?

Stop thinking we are of time, out truer nature isn’t governed by time therefore manifestations, but we are hell bent on manifesting everything; no wander everything we have manifested has never lasted. Spiritually manifesting is no different to any other manifestation; it’s all governed by time.

Instead of allowing the universe to govern us, I think it’s about time we became aware of being able to govern the universe, this can only be obtained through pure simple awareness of ourselves beyond time and manifestations.
