Imagine a large body of water and the clouds in the sky and yourself within this environment, now
imagine it's just starting to rain, you can see the rain droplets on the water
and how these rain droplets are forming ringlets as these rain droplets hit the
surface of the water.
Now for the upside down world experience, imagine turning
this visualisation on it's head (180%), for an upside down experience the rain
droplets should be still falling from the clouds/sky and forming ringlets on
the body of water. Look closely at the water ringlets as it's still falling
from the clouds but now upwards to the sky that is now the body of water.
The trick with this is to become legless. Imagine that your
legs gradually disappear as they come down to your thighs to your knees, below
the knees there is nothing, you are now just floating while imaging rain
droplets hitting the water creating ringlets that are now above your head.
Like I said in my last post, the space within the universe
to me represents the spiritual domain, there is no wrong or right way to
experience this domain, legs also have no point in getting us from (a) to (b)
in space, one destination point to another. The upside down world is very much
like this, except, their is no true upside down world because there is no right
or wrong way to experience such realities. The upside down world is brought
about by our own perception, there is only one way, one upright position, to
experience such worlds/realities, this gives us an upside down effect when
becoming aware of other ways to experience such worlds/realities.
The next step will be hard to accomplish for a number of
people for various reasons, this difficultness is governed by how involved or
fixated we are to physical realities or any reality influenced by gravity, this
is due to how gravity influences our mentality. When you take away the
influences of gravity upon our mentality, you take away any fixated barriers we
have picked up on while living in a gravity influences environment/world/reality.
Try now visualising turning this environment of the rain
droplets hitting the surface of the water horizontally, you will now experience
the droplets of rain from the clouds hitting the surface of the water
horizontally. Now slowly turn this image/visualisation 360% , in other words
right around until you come back to the same point you started from.
The next step is quite spectacular. With the same visual
image, instead of turning the visualisation 360%, allow your legless floating
self to rotate. there is a trick to this however, don't imagine a landscape or
a separation between the clouds/sky and the body of water while you rotate, you
should imagine that the body of water and the clouds are directly connected
without anything else in between. It sort of like being in a large bubble,
there is no separation within the surface of the bubble.
The next step is to try and lose all sensation of gravity,
allow yourself to freely move about within this visualisation, this is very simular
to experiencing a gravity free environment in outer space, except, instead experiencing
freedom from a physical gravity free environment, you are now mentally
releasing yourself of the barriers of our gravity influenced mentality. I should point out that This works very well while meditating.
Experiment, you can change the visual imagery to what ever
you like as it all works the same. Now sit back and enjoy your new found
freedom in a gravity free influenced environment in an upside down world.
I'm going to end this post with a reply I received in
relation to this topic brought about by my last post.
Fascinating post, +Mathew Naismith. Very deep indeed. I reviewed
your entire blog posting, and it certainly invites introspection.
I'm currently getting deeper into Buddhism, especially since my beloved is a Buddhist teacher. And the branch of Buddhism in which she practices is that which is headed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama (can't find the branch's correct spelling right this moment).
And part of what I've been learning to deeply embrace is the idea that is at the deepest foundations of that practice - everything is an illusion. For me, it's made it easier to release unnecessary attachments and trauma, etc.
But I don't see your writing as being opposed to such thoughts - rather, it seems to be a different and equally valid perspective. ☺ Thanks for the post!
Joanne Dragonheart Your
are right Joanne, it's not opposed.
Realities like this one are an illusion in that it's not all we are by far, the illusion is thinking this is all we are when were not, the upside down world actually points this out in various ways.
The practices and teachings of Buddhism knows that if we didn't see realities like this one as an illusion, we would stay fixated to a reality like this one, we need to see it as an illusion and then readjust our perception that there is no true illusion. If there is no right or wrongs, illusions and non-illusions, how would an illusion exist in the first place?
The illusion doesn't actually exist until we are apart of that illusion itself but this can't happen until we see it as an illusion, it's certainly tricky.
